This is one of my favourite hobbies, something I've done since I was little - ordering friends and acquiantences into a metro map. It's my form of art, and I love it.
An index of stations can be found in the PDF version - often a station will include your name or surname (or in rare cases, a nickname). That is a good place to start. This isn't the case for every station, so another option is to view the index of teams, where you can locate the team you play for, and which area or section of line they occupy. If neither case is fruitful, you can always ask. For more details - seek the Stations and Teams section.
The team index explains all, and more information can be found in the Stations and Teams section of the website.
Either I don’t know you well enough, or I know you, but I can’t remember your full name. In the latter case, just message me and I'll find a spot for you. In the former case, feel free to say hello and we can always have a chat, I'm at most softball tournaments and events.
It goes without saying that if you don't play softball or baseball, you will not be on this map, so head over to St. Jacques, you may be there instead.
This map is a lot more dynamic, with constant changes due to the softballers I will be meeting in the future. New groups may mean some stations move about. Unlike St. Jacques, this map does not have a hand-drawn counterpart at the moment so I am more willing to move the odd station about occasionally in a more logical place in regards to groups, however most should stay where they are.
I am always open for suggestions. It is quite hard coming up with names, I struggled for a few people. Provided it’s not the same name as on the St. Jacques map, let me know if you have a better name.
I have not fully visualised the city in my head to the extent that I have St. Jacques, so I won’t have as much of an idea – but I am open to ideas.
I have not added as many "xxx’s Cat" stations to this map as there are in St. Jacques, but there are a few (I may phase these out in Version 4. The country where this city is located has always regarded cats quite highly, like in ancient Egypt, so cats are honored. It’s not a station for your cat, it’s a station for you, just like in St. Jacques!
I will update the map once a year from then on, though future iterations will look quite a bit different!
You may want a phyiscal copy of the map, however it is a very bescope piece which will be hard to print. The map is so huge that it will need to be printed in A0 size (and that is without the index). This is a 84cm by 1.19m sized poster. I don't think full prints are a viable option, especially as there wouldn't be much demand for it.
That would be nice of you, but as mentioned previously, a full print is unviable (unless you're willing to fork some cash for a large print.
When I printed version 2 with the index included, there were a lot of issues getting a decent print. Parts of the poster were blurry. That's what you get when you produce a humongous map with white text and colours on a dark background.
I have always thought of creating fold up maps which I could flog (or gift), though I'd need to look into creating a prototype. These would be printed as a foldable A1 map. Again, where is the demand?
T-Shirts could be the most likely option. When I finished Version 2, I attempted to create a T-shirt, with the ZTA logo on the front and the central area of the map at the back. It was a good prototype attempt but not quite what I was looking for. For one, the map was a little too small for my liking. I will be protoyping an improved version again, andd I could sell T-shirts, this is a more accessible product!
The intended design of the T-shirt would look a lot like the famous Cyberdog Tube Map, which I obviously own. I bought this T-shirt in 2010, still possess it, and they're still selling the same tee 15 years later!
One of my teammates from baseball, Russell, was sometimes seen wearing a sports t-shirt with a map design. I'm thinking of doing similar with my map as well, if I figure a way to produce a physical T-shirt, you may see me at a softball diamond wearing it (this might entice you to get your own...)
I hope that the 'Shop' section on all my map webpages eventually leads to somewhere...
No issues. I do like to add photos as this site also has memoirs of my time playing - however please do send me a message if you're uncomfortable with a photograph including yourself being displayed on my site - I am happy to remove it/replace the photo with another one without your presence/blur your face. :-)
Oh hunny, how I wish this was the case. Imagine if I actually did have time on my hands. Softball and work take up too much of it.
